"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Rom 8:1, NIV)
To condemn ourselves is the worst thing we can do to ourselves if we want to change a bad habit, a failure, or whatever it is, that we are condemning ourselves for. It causes our focues to be moved from Jesus to ourselves and the problem. The more thoughts and attention a problem gets, the more it thrives. It feeds on attention. Jesus can solve this for us. By focusing on Him and quitting the self condemnation, He will carry our problem. Now, keep in mind that humans can be quite slow matter to work with, so don't expect results over night. Still, we can trust Jesus, and if we don't condemn ourselves, the negative doesn't grow.
But, do remember: There is neither no condemnation for not trusting Jesus, nor any condemnation for dropping back into self condemnation. Read Romans 8:1 again. As long as we are in Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation for anything. Not at all! Never, ever! He loves us, and is gracious with us, all the time doing everything He can to help us. He wants to help us out into freedom, but He doesn't intercept in a way that goes against our own will. But He is always ready to help us, waiting for us with open arms, whenever we choose to seek Him.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7, NIV)
